The Conference will be held at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Headquarters in Waimea.
When making your travel arrangements to the Big Island of Hawaii you should to fly into
Kona International Airport.
There is no public transportation from Kona Airport to Waimea.
Car rental is required and ride sharing arrangements will be assisted.

Waimea, Hawaii

The town of Waimea is located in the South Kohala District of the Big Island. It is the largest town in the interior of the Big Island and lies in the rolling green foothills above the Kohala Coast. It is believed that in ancient times many thousands of Hawaiians lived in the area now known as Waimea. This was a watershed area surrounded by forests of sandalwood trees.

Although there are several places to stay in the Waimea / Kamuela area
there are three primary accommodations that we recommend.

Russell Genet and several of the conference participants will be staying at the Royal Kona Resort.

Royal Kona Resort

The Royal Kona Resort is a beachfront resort overlooking the Kailua Bay. Travelers will be able to see the Lagoon Tower on the south and the Bay Tower on the north. Guests will be able to find a beauty salon within the resort as well as a self-service laundry facility. The resort is also equipped with a fitness center, a massage and spa center.

Kamuela Inn - Waimea

The Kamuela Inn is just 2 blocks from the Canada France Hawaii  Telescope (CFHT) Headquarters where the conference will be held.  It is convenient, reasonably priced, and comfortable, but there are only 31 rooms. If you plan to stay here, or at the Log Cabin (a twenty minute drive away--see below) you should reserve your room as soon as possible.
